The threat of AIDS looms large on our society inspite of the rapid strides in Medical Care. Our society, for whatever reasons, is reluctant to actively engage in discussions on AIDS. Adding to this is the social stigma faced by HIV Positive persons. It seems the most effective way to combat AIDS is through awareness and care at sensitive areas. Keeping this in view a project on, 'Value Based Awareness of HIV/AIDS, STDs and Addiction among the Youth' has been implemented in Thrissur as a joint venture of YMCA Thrissur and Y's Men's Club of Trichur as TOF 06-03 India Project. In Four Phases, we aim at creating awareness and sensitizing students, college principles and administrators, doctors, nursing and allied students, general public in sensitive areas (identified by the Kerala State AIDS Control Society - KSACS) and also work in association with government agencies under KSACS and other NGOs engaged in rehabilitation of HIV+ persons.  

YMCA Thrissur has launched the Multi Project Centre at its newly purchased land at Kannara near the Peechi Reservoir and Wildlife Sanctuary. It is budgeted for around Rs.10 crore (100 million) upon completion of all the envisaged projects -International Convention Centre, Old Age Home and an International School - to come up there.

The International Convention Centre, which is the first project to come up there, is estimated to cost about Rs.3 crores. This Convention Centre will have a state of the art indoor stadium with facilities for games like basket ball, volley ball and badminton. The auditorium shall have a seating capacity for 1000 persons. Also coming up here would be a dormitory for 120 persons and guest rooms of all categories to accommodate around 100 persons. Our mission with this Centre is to promote and encourage Youth oriented activities.
